Jim Bates is an experienced businessman and entrepreneur. Prior to joining The CHRISTMAN Group, Jim was in charge of the business valuation division of a national consulting firm until he left to establish his own business valuation and appraisal practice.

During his career, Mr. Bates has been involved in over 500 valuation assignments for companies in over 25 different industries. Jim works with strategic and financial buyers on a regular basis. Jim’s in-depth understanding of business valuation issues makes him a valuable resource on any transaction team.

Beginning in the spring of 2004, Mr. Bates will be writing a number of articles for TennisPro magazine, addressing strategic management topics for fitness industry owners and managers.

Mr. Bates is a competitive tennis player at the national level. He has been playing and/or coaching tennis competitively for over 20 years. As a former top junior player, collegiate player, teaching professional, club manager, and NCAA Division I collegiate coach, Jim is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry (“PTR”) at the highest of their three levels.
